Use in Educational Setting –

From group chats to one on one discussion, TinyChat could be a useful addition in any educational setting. TinyChat provides users with an open source opportunity to connect to over 10 live streaming video feeds at once. Students have the ability to meet up with their group members without having to leave the comfort of their homes. This could also be a unique experience to use with virtual pen pals.

Cost, Registration Issues -

TinyChat has a fantastic price of zero dollars. The program is 100% free and requires that the chat room moderator manage the chat with a series of controls. The extent of registration is deciding on what you would like the chat room named. There is also another option as the user is to sign-in using Facebook or twitter account information. This allows the users to be more recognizable and not have the freedom of an alias.

Useful in what content and value to classroom –

Using TinyChat in a classroom could be of great value depending upon its usage. Using TinyChat just to use it would probably not prove to be useful. This could be a most useful in-group project in which the teacher requires the students communicate with one another outside of the classroom. It could also be useful for distance learning with other schools and students across the country/world.

Meta-cognition and TinyChat –

TinyChat provides a successful path to meta-cognition. I feel like TinyChat supports meta-cognition through direct immersion into a difficult situation. The program directly drops the user into the program and forces the learner to learn. Initially the learner will be faced with a different kind of learning environment but will assess the situation and will adapt their learning style to be successful.
